The Day After 7th July

The announcement by LTA that, the actual root cause for this very unfortunate MRT breakdown is still yet to be determined.  A lot of unproductive down time incurred either by business, social or family at large. According to the news, CNA; most probably, an independent expert team will be called upon to assist. I am not sure what is the expertize composition is like for this independent expert team; perhaps beside EE or EEE personnel which I suspect will be the majority members, I would suggest ME discipline could also be included in this team; to poke some innocent school boy questions or out of the box question along the drive way for the team to consider while deliberating on those data and causes of the said failure on hand. Good Luck to then and may I wish them success in their endeavor. Once the real or actual root cause/s has been ascertained; I hope LTA will give an update on the expert team findings soon.

On a lighter side, According to my BC colleague Logan, “I had one of my worst days (7/7/2015 from 1845hr to 2230hr) as a Bus Captain. My mouth jaw also pain, vocal cord strained; keep on telling the pax , “ not need tap”, “ free ride”.

My employer has instructed that, all “internal line”; feeder bus services to run for another 30mins before end-of-service for 7/7/2015. Those BC working on this extra service time till the early morning of 8/7/15; the management is very thoughtful of them. Each BC was treated to a set McDonald Meal from 0100hr to 0130hr; however for me, while still on the road, as per blog post no.5; at 0118hr on 8/7/2015, I did not get to eat any fast food, but I did got a mouthful of complaint from a pax by saying it is “ free, foc” to him. Life is never fair, I guess.

The complimentary bus free ride actually continued into 8/7/2015 noon time. My employer also realized that, majority of us, BC, did suffer much voice box injuries and proceeded to buy Herbal JJ Tea and 100 Plus for us to drink and nourish our throat. I did not consume my share of the drinks; I gave it to the Cleaner. Thank You to my Company; “ xie xie gong xi”.

  1. The system should automatically disable the ezylink machine, and shows "free ride" at the LCD to inform the commuters.

  2. Ya Agree too, maybe a sign could do also, but it depends also if the bus drivers on the road knows if a breakdown in MRT has happen before hand and not until the last minute.
